Summer Hill Grand Food Bazaar continues in Lackey and Smith streets as I write. I headed down to see what the Crave Sydney Food Festival event was all about. There is a vast array of stores from most of the cafes and restaurants in Summer Hill- Plunge, Envy, Decolata, Da Vinci's, Mancini's, Muse, Thai Garn... and stores from some of the shops- including the bakeries, Indian takeaway, Summer Hill Village Fruit Shop and Lucy's Florist. The two main roads are closed to traffic and absolutely buzzing with young families. There is live entertainment and, of course, great food!
I tried Summer Hill Village Fruit Shop's Lebanese dessert at $3 per serve. It tasted very similar to baklava in terms of consisting of honeyed pastry and pistachio nuts. It was different to what I usually eat and I really enjoyed it.
I couldn't resist remaining same-same and visiting Plunge. I purchased their egg falafel with tabouli, tahini and Lebanese bread ($4). It was very very flavoursome, although a bit dry. Still, I would buy it again, and I will visit Plunge.
