Rivermark is a gem. Nestled away on Hastings River Drive, you wouldn't expect to find a refreshing cafe that rests on the river's waterfront. With a vast array of outdoor seating and now a plastic screen to protect diners from those nasty breezes, Rivermark Cafe is a must-visit for those either living in or visiting Port Macquarie.
But why should you visit the cafe? And, what makes it different from every other restaurant and cafe in Port?
1. Rivermark serves Merlo Coffee. A great, smooth blend that is always served just right. It is my favourite bean in Port. I can't get enough of it (even if I am trying to cut down my coffee intake...)
2. Location, location, location. As I mentioned, Rivermark graces the Hastings River. On a warm, summer's day, sitting at the table is an extremely relaxing experience. I can't wait to bask in the sun at the cafe with coffee/smoothie in hand on my next return to Port. One negative: the tables closest to the waterfront are on slants, but this is easy to look past given the view.
3. Menu. There menu is varied and has something for everyone. Several different salads- my warm chicken salad was sublime with zesty semi-dried tomatoes, well-cooked kipfler potatoes and just plain amazing chicken. They also have an array of wraps, fish and chips, hamburgers and bruschetta. Items are all decently priced and beautifully presented.
4. Service. The waitstaff are extremely bubbly and always make sure to farewell you on exit. I should note, however, that orders are taken from the front counter.
Just. Go. There.
