...and this time for breakfast
Toasted brioche with sage butter mushrooms, spinach, roasted tomatoes and ricotta
Scrambled eggs with salmon and chives on toast
Bitter Sweet is not only a favourite of mine, but my grandparents, my aunty and uncle and my mother as well, making the popular patisserie a regular venue for family get-togethers. But like you didn't already guess this.
I visited the cafe the morning before leaving Port with my grandparents. I ordered the brioche (which I have had on five separate occasions now). The contrast between the sweet freshly-baked bread and ricotta and the savoury sage butter mushrooms and tomatoes makes this the most wonderful of breakfasts. Both brioche and ricotta are guilty pleasures of mine, making it hard for me to order anything else.
My Granddad had the perfectly-fluffy omelette- I apologise for forgetting the ingredients- while my Grandmother had the scrambled eggs with salmon and chives. They are both regular patrons of the cafe, for good reason.
The service at Bitter Sweet is extremely friendly. The waitresses know a lot of their customers by name and appear to thoroughly enjoy their job.
